When Discomfort Is Actually Direction
Hey Sis,
Have you ever felt something stirring inside you that you couldn't quite explain?
A feeling that leaves you restless.
Uncomfortable.
Misplaced.
Unsure of what's next.
Most of us immediately try to make those feelings go away. We stay busy, distract ourselves, or convince ourselves that if we just push through, the feeling will disappear.
But what if it's not here to disrupt you?
What if it's here to direct you?
What if that stirring is your inner wisdom inviting you to pause?
To listen.
To become present.
I've come to believe that our lives are full of moments like these. Moments that don't always make sense in the beginning, but later become turning points.
As a nutrition and lifestyle coach, I've seen this happen in countless women—including myself.
Sometimes the discomfort comes when you're realizing the habits you've relied on are no longer serving you.
Sometimes it's the quiet feeling that you've been taking care of everyone else while neglecting yourself.
Sometimes it's the realization that you've accomplished so much, yet still feel like something is missing.
And sometimes it's simply your heart whispering, "There's more."
We often assume discomfort means something is wrong.
But what if discomfort isn't always a warning?
What if it's an invitation?
Learning to Listen Instead of React
Our first instinct is usually to fix the feeling as quickly as possible.
We reach for food.
We scroll social media.
We stay busy.
We overcommit.
We ignore it and hope it goes away.
I've done all of those things at different points in my life.
But I've also learned that growth rarely begins in comfort.
Whether you're changing your nutrition, committing to movement, healing your relationship with your body, setting healthier boundaries, or stepping into a new season of life, transformation almost always begins with a little uncertainty.
That uncomfortable feeling may not be asking you to run.
It may simply be asking you to pay attention.
The Power of Gratitude
One practice that has changed my perspective is responding with gratitude instead of resistance.
Not because every circumstance is easy.
Not because every season feels good.
But because gratitude shifts the question from:
"Why is this happening to me?"
to
"What is this trying to teach me?"
Gratitude creates space.
It softens fear.
It quiets the noise long enough for us to hear what we've been too busy to notice.
Sometimes our greatest breakthroughs begin with our willingness to simply pause.
Your Next Level May Be Calling You
If you're feeling unsettled right now, I want to encourage you not to assume you're lost.
Maybe you're simply being redirected.
The next version of you often requires letting go of the current one.
That can feel uncomfortable.
It can feel uncertain.
But it can also be the beginning of something beautiful.
I've learned that vitality isn't just about the food we eat or the workouts we complete.
It's about living in alignment with who we're becoming.
When our body, mind, and spirit begin working together, we don't just feel healthier—we feel more fully alive.
And sometimes, the very feeling we've been trying to avoid is the one leading us there.
Reflection from Coach Jacki
Take a few quiet moments this week and ask yourself:
Where in my life do I feel uncomfortable right now?
What if this feeling isn't something to fear, but something to understand?
What might this season be inviting me to learn?
What's one small step I can take toward greater alignment this week?
This Week's Practice
Find five minutes each day to sit in silence.
No phone.
No music.
No distractions.
Simply breathe and notice what comes to the surface.
You don't have to solve everything today.
Just listen.
Your inner wisdom has been speaking all along.
With gratitude,
🤍 Coach Jacki
